STAMPING INK
This ink can be supplied in many colors
and is primarily used for decorating balloons, toys and other rubber
latex products
by hand operation or
automatic machinery. This ink is shipped in concentrated form or
ready-to-use (designated as a "K" ink).
CONCENTRATED STAMPING
INK (100 SERIES)
As shipped, concentrated ink has to
be diluted with a mineral spirit solvent in the proportion of
60% ink to 40% solvent by volume. Diluents
can be shipped with the ink or may be purchased from a local supplier.
We can also supply blended fast-dry solvents. After dilution, the
ink should air dry in 3-5 minutes. If using a dryer, however,
keep the
temperature between 150ƒ-180ƒ. The dilution with the solvent should be done with intense mixing. The
concentrates do not dilute easily and it is necessary to obtain an extremely
homogeneous mixture. It is suggested to mix for at least 10-15 minutes
with a high speed mixer. If using the whole container, you should pour
the entire contents into a larger container and mix with a high speed
mixer, after the diluent has been added. However, if using only a portion
of the contents, be sure to mix the ink first in the original container
with a high speed mixer, prior to pouring any out for use or dilution.
READY-TO-USE
STAMPING INK ("K" INKS)
"
K" Inks are diluted in our plant with a medium-fast drying solvent
designated as Solvent No. 10. These inks should also be mixed thoroughly
before
use with a high speed mixer.
INTENSIFIERS
(900 SERIES)
Intensifiers may be used with the 100 Series Stamping Inks or 800 Series
Silkscreen Inks when one is covering a dark surface with a light ink,
or when a more opaque coverage is needed. NOTE: Intensifiers generally
are not used alone. Due to the high pigment concentration they will
not expand as well. Intensifiers should be added to the ink (which
has been diluted with solvent and ready to use) in the range of 10%
intensifier to 90% ink by volume and mixed thoroughly for 10-15 minutes
with a high speed mixer.
SILKSCREEN INK
(800 SERIES)
This is a highly viscous ink available in a variety of colors for use
in the usual silkscreening method of decorating any rubber latex object.
A 200-325 mesh screen is recommended. Silkscreen inks are concentrated and should
be diluted with a mineral spirit solvent in the range of 30%
solvent to 70% ink by volume. Diluents
can be supplied with the ink or purchased from a local supplier. We
can also supply blended fast-drying solvents. After dilution,
the ink should
air dry in 3-5 minutes. If using a dryer, however, keep the temperature
between 150ƒ-180ƒF. It is suggested to mix for at least 10 to 15 minutes
with a high speed mixer. If using the whole container, you should pour
the entire contents into a larger container and mix with a high speed
mixer, after the diluent has been added. However, if using only a portion
of the contents, be sure to mix the ink first in the original container
with a high speed mixer, prior to pouring any out for use or dilution.
MARKING
INKS (200 SERIES)
This is a specially formulated ink supplied in many colors and used mainly
for permanent marking of items like gloves and other rubber latex products
that are not inflated. It provides wear-resistant, water insoluble
coverage and is diluted in our plant with a fast drying solvent #29. Marking inks are shipped ready-to-use and only require thorough mixing
before using. If further dilution is desired, blended solvents are available.
MOTTLING INKS (400 SERIES)
These inks are furnished in concentrated form. The concentrated ink may
be used as is or diluted with a mineral spirit solvent in the range
of 20% solvent to 80% ink. Diluents can be supplied with the ink or
purchased from a local supplier. Diluents should be mixed very thoroughly
with the concentrates. Intense mixing for at least 10 to 15 minutes
with a high speed mixer is requires to carry out this dilution.
Toy balloons, balls or other similar rubber latex goods are best decorated
with mottling inks after washing and drying.
To carry out the mottling process, the mottling ink is floated over
water in a tank and the goods, still in the original form, are dipped,
whereby they pick up the floating ink film from the water surface. One
can use a small or large water tank, depending on the number of forms
handled at one time. After removal of the decorated goods from the water
tank, they are finished in the usual way. The surface of the tank is
cleaned, fresh ink is floated, and the cycle repeated.
